Lead with education, and be specific

Degree, major, expected graduation date, and relevant coursework by name (not just "took several relevant classes") — this is your primary credential at this stage.

Class projects count as real experience bullets

Write them exactly like work: "Built a group budgeting app in Python for a 4-person team project, presenting results to a class of 40." Tool, scope, outcome — same structure as any job bullet.

Clubs and volunteer roles show initiative

Organizing a student event, running a club's social media, volunteering for a local nonprofit — these demonstrate ownership and follow-through, which is exactly what an internship recruiter is screening for.

Any part-time or gig work belongs on the resume

Retail, tutoring, freelance design — even if unrelated to your target field, it shows reliability, customer interaction, and time management, all genuinely relevant signals.

Keep it to one page

A crowded page with school clubs, projects, and a part-time job reads as a full, capable life. A sparse page with lots of white space reads as thin — fill it with real content, but never exceed one page.
